An important breeder, he was sent to Diószeg by his father, who was a close friend of baron Kuffner. He started his scientific career at the private research faculty of the agricultural Diószeg. He made use of this experience in his career in his scientific activities in New Zealand and Israel. For his scientific work he received many prizes and was declared a noble by Elisabeth II.
