Since 1910, Dr. Pongrácz was the doctor at the Diószeg Sugar Mill Health Insurance Company. Throughout his time in Diószeg, he was a dedicated doctor who helped the sick in difficult times. Regardless of his own safety, Ernő helped and rescued several Jews from deportation. In 1947 he was forced to move to Hungary.
