The earliest mention of the church dates back to the 17th century. Up until 1761 the church had three altars and in 1866 an organ from the workshop of Martin Šaška was installed in the church. In 1897 the main facade was decorated with a statue of the Virgin Mary with a child, which was a generous gift from Countess von Firmian.
